This letter is intended for the board of the harbour. How can you, as a major company on St. Maarten, so severely abuse your position? You are ‘donating’ or ‘selling’ sand to a drag race strip that has never been approved. Worse, you just continue to deliver this sand, creating major environmental problems. You willingly, consciously, in full awareness of the fact that there is NO permit, continue to bring the sand.
I think this is outrageous. If I were the government, I would let you clean up this mess at once. You must have good contacts that they don’t make you do this. Where are your business ethics?
There are more questions, of course. Why are you paying for a multi-million dollar bridge over the lagoon.? It is hard to see how this benefits your company; and even much harder to see how this canb be a priority over garbage, sewage, youth and many other imminent issues.
If you continue like this, let me sketch the future for you. In a few years St. Maarten will be a concrete, polluted jungle, with no beaches and nature left, and there will be no more tourists coming. But, oh, I forgot. You don’t care, because by then, your bank accout will be filled and you will move to live in another place.
